CHAPTER 03
It was 8 o'clock on a Sunday morning, and an unpleasant smell was coming from the kitchen. My dog was staring at something as soon as I got out of bed. Suddenly, my dog became alert and started barking again.
"Daizy, what happened, baby? Come here, come here... Simmo, are you in the kitchen?" I called out.
"Yes, I’m here and making breakfast for us," she replied. But my dog's behavior seemed strange; it was like something was irritating her badly. She had never reacted this way before, especially with Simmo. Not knowing what was wrong, I decided to take her to the vet.
(AFTER RETURNING FROM THE VET...)
"I think we should feed her first. I've already cooked her favorite food, and I know she will love it," Simmo suggested.
Daizy sniffed the food, then took a few steps backward and sat behind me. I was completely shocked by her response to her favorite meal. She had never behaved this way before; I had never seen anything like it in my entire life. Now, I was panicking. "What's wrong with you, Daizy? You’re not eating the meal I made for you, dear?" Simmo said.
After a moment, she rolled her eyes and insisted, "Come, let me feed you with my own hands." Hearing that sent my mind racing because she had never said anything like that before. I always pamper my pet, but now everything felt strange. Why wasn’t Daizy eating her favorite food? Simmo was being overly caring, saying, "Alright, let me feed you." I couldn't handle it. "You both are confusing me! She isn't eating, and you’re showering her with attention—you’re acting so ridiculous!" I exclaimed.
Simmo laughed and teased, "You’re such an overthinker; we girls have mood swings."
As she started to put on gloves, I asked, "What are you doing? It’s not poison, it’s just dog food, and I won’t allow you to do this." The moment I mentioned poison, I noticed her lips drying as if she was hiding something. "No… where would I get poison? I wouldn’t put poison in there," she replied.
I moved closer to the meal to smell it; maybe it was expired. Just then, she suddenly grabbed my hand. "Why are you sweating so much, Simmo?" I questioned.
She said, "Who smells dog food?" and snatched the meal from my hand.
"You've been acting so strangely since you got back. What’s going on?" I asked, feeling like the ground shifted beneath me as her response left me unsure of what to do next.
